After the successful organization of the 1st Asian Shuttlecock Championships 2023 in Hong Kong, the tournament made its return to the venue for the 3rd Asian & Asian Youth Shuttlecock Championships. Over five exciting days, the event concluded smoothly with fierce competition and enthusiastic participation.

This year's championships brought together top shuttlecock athletes from 12 Asian countries and regions, including China, Hong Kong (China), Macau (China), Vietnam, Myanmar, Mongolia, Cambodia, Laos, Chinese Taipei, India, Indonesia, and Thailand. Each country or region was allowed to send just one team per event, making the competition especially intense.

At the flag presentation ceremony held on May 25, Mr. Yu Kwok Yin, President of the International Shuttlecock Federation, remarked: "With a record 12 Asian countries and regions joining this year’s championships, it's clear that shuttlecock is growing in popularity across Asia. We hope to see even more participants in the future and work toward making the sport more mainstream and widely played."

During the competition, we witnessed each team showcasing a variety of offensive techniques — including standing foot smash, airborne inverted kicks, and even upright aerial kicks performed by the Thai players. These skills closely resemble those seen in sepak takraw and are sometimes interchangeable. This highlights the unique charm of this Asia-originated sport: its agility, versatility, and strong visual appeal make it truly exciting to watch.

Here’s a highlight from the Men's Doubles final — a thrilling rematch of last year’s World Championship showdown. In red, Team Vietnam; in white, Team China.
Vietnam’s No. 8 player impressed the crowd with his outstanding defensive skills, leaving a lasting impression on everyone watching.
By hosting the Asian Shuttlecock Championships and Asian Youth Shuttlecock Championships, the Hong Kong Shuttlecock Association aims to drive the sport’s development in Hong Kong by promoting elite training, event branding, mass participation, professionalization, and industry growth.
Through this tournament, the Association also hopes to strengthen exchange and cooperation among teams across Asia and further deepen mutual friendship.
